This one just happened. I wasn't aiming for any particular concept or message. I just kept doing stuff until I felt it looked good. Feel free to interpret it however you wish, tho. Now, if my memory serves me well, Angelica is a female name that came from the Greek word angelos, which means "messenger". Although after the appereance of Latin and the early Hebrew and Christian traditions, the name became related to Angels... which are in part messengers, but with some idea of divinity that I don't think the Greeks had in mind when they coined the word.

I *love* the wounds on her back. Also, good job on the textures. And the colors blend wonderfully.
What I don't like however is the chair. It seems out of place; I'd see Angelica as someone with no material substance so she probably wouldn't be sitting down, would she? :confused:

I like this a lot. The composition is great and the subject matter is chilling. As far as your view on the picture, I would suggest trying to make the image monochromatic. The colors, although very similair, tend to clash a bit. Experiment with different hues and such. That's really the only thing I could recommend. Great work.

I am looking at this on a monitor with rather high gamma, so I may be seeing details you are not. But it seems to me that the area around her corset needs more contrast, more darks especially. Same issue with the book on the left side. It just seems to work against the thick richness you have going in the center and right side.
My other suggestion would be to crop the right side some. You have a lot packed into one side and a big expanse of negative space on the other.
Otherwise, it is a very nice piece. I like the texture on her body and book. Just keep playing with it, I know you'll end up with something fantastic. :)

I updated the image, so perhaps you would be interested in doing the refresh thing. I put the original here [link] so it can be viewed for comparition pourpuses.

You were right about the negative space. That was in part my fault, tho, given the original image was almost a square, but I tried to turn it into a "widescreen" type of presentation, which obviously backfired. The cropped version works a lot better, now that I look at it. And I got rid of the whiteness around the corset and the book, which enhaced the shadows and contrast highly. It looks better now, that's for sure.

Once again, your advice prooved to be just about what the work needed. Thanks! :hug:
