Another quote.

This is second one featuring a beauty pageant contest. We all know what happened with Miss South Carolina a while back. And if you don't, you can read that entry here: [link] It's awesome. These rather pretty girls are lucky to be pretty because they're not right up in the head.

This one is a bit old, but it's still genius. It comes from the tv show Realmente Bella 2009, which is looking for the next Miss Panama. So, in the contest, this girl named Giouse Cozzarelli had to comment on a quote by Confucius, which reads "reading without meditating is an useless ocupation".

You can see her answer here: [link] but if you don't speak spanish, this is what she said:

Good evening Panama. Confucius was one of the men who invented confusion and that's why he... of the most ancient... he was one of the Japanese Chinese and was one of the most ancient. Thank you.

I was wrong about the blood, but my edition of the book (Mondarori, 2008) does mention coughing in page two. The earliest reference I could find to the blood was in page 13, which is nowhere near a "long time" or "much later in the story" as you guys had it.
